Riptide – Vance Joy
This song gave me some major agony. I had been practicing it for days with a different strumming pattern and could not play through the whole song without making a mistake. It seemed to me the longer I spent on this song the worse I got. I had to switch to this strumming pattern a few days ago otherwise I knew I was not going to have the song prepared in time. This song still continues to frustrate me and I am not happy with how it turned out. This assignment has really bothered me as I am not a musical person whatsoever. Usually, when I am struggling with an assignment I am able to look up if my answer is correct or spend more time researching to figure out if I am writing exactly what I want to say. With this assignment, I just have to keep on replaying the songs until I get them right and it feels like I never get them right. Obviously, no one is perfect but this assignment has been a major strike in my confidence and I truly feel as if I am just not good enough at finger coordination. I just feel bad as I know these songs are supposed to be perfect as we have lots of time to practice but it seems like such an impossible task for me, so I am sorry. Hopefully, the next song will be easier.
Note: Again, I tuned my ukulele right before playing so if it sounds off I am not sure what to do.
